I'm alive!.....BEWARE this email is a long one!
Okay, Week 3!
My last week in the MTC. Holy I am so sad that I was only there for 3 weeks. I am that person who loved the MTC more than anything.
So on Sundays in the MTC, they ask three random Sisters or Elders to give a talk in church. And with my luck... guess who got called up.... yup me! It was funny because earlier that day, Sister Anderson (my MTC comp) looked at me and said, "Sister Copeland, I have a feeling you are giving a talk today," and I looked at here and said, "I know." So, don't worry, I had a talk prepared. I knew I was going to speak in church lol
Let me say, tears were definitely shed when I had to say bye to my district. It was awful. They are some of the best people I have ever met. I lucked out with the best district.
And even more tears were shed when I had to say bye to Sister Anderson. Wow! I just love her so much. I really hope we get to be companions again. I already know she is going to be an extraordinary missionary.

FLORIDA + Week 4
Last Monday was a LONG day. The day started off by waking up at 3:20. I woke up like two hrs earlier than I should've lol. I was freaking out because my suitcases were both over. I tried my best to get them under. But God was good to me.... when I went to go check my luggage...the scale that I went to was broken. So I didn't have to pay the $300 fee. Whatta relief.
The second I walked off the plane, my hair was done for. I'm gonna be honest. My hair is already starting to adjust to the humidity.
One of the first faces I saw in Jacksonville was Elder Brenchley. Not gonna lie, it has already helped so much seeing a familiar face. Also Shaun and Roxanne, you should be very proud of Elder Brenchley. He is an AMAZING missionary.
On Tuesday, we had a training for a couple hours in the morning. We got to do role plays (where we act out what we would say in different situations). They had all the trainers and trainees in the room. All the trainees had to walk to a random trainer in the room and role play with them. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Sister Johnson. I knew she was going to be my companion, so I role played with her.
I guess I am really in tune with the Spirit because I not only called that I was going to speak in Sacrament Meeting.... but I also knew who my companion would be.
Sister Johnson is from Oregon, and man, she is the sweetest person I have ever met. We are very similar in so many ways. My favorite thing about Sister Johnson is her work ethic.... she does not quit. I love it and I want to be more like her.
My area is St. John's. My comp and I are whitewashing. This means that both my comp and I are new to the area. All the members in this area keep saying that feel so sorry for me--that this is my first area. This is a tough area. Sister Johnson was sick this week, so we only got to go out two days. And in the two days we walked 20 miles and biked 15 haha. And guess how many people talked to us.... 1 out of the 4 million we tried to talk to. However, this one particular person didn't want us to share a message with her. She just wanted to show us her painting haha.
On Saturday night however, one more person talked to us. His name is Luigi...but we have a slight problem.. Luigi doesn't speak any English Haha. But don't worry. Apparently Sister Johnson knows Spanish. They were having like a total conversation in Spanish and I was just straight up chillin. Sister Johnson has been teaching herself Spanish. We both decided that we were gonna try and teach ourselves as much Spanish as we possibly could so we could teach Luigi. But then we also decided that we would bring Spanish-speaking members with us to Luigi's lessons. Because idk how much Spanish I can learn in 3 months.
Wow. I already love the mission so much. A little spiritual thought for you all: Member missionary work is huge out here in Florida. But it can be just as big out there in Utah, too. I want to challenge each of you this week to be a missionary in some way. That doesn't mean you have to talk to them about the gospel, but you can also serve them as Christ would.
I am so very grateful for all your love and prayers.
I love you all so much
CTR, Sister Copeland
