Week 1 - October 1, 2019

I'M ALIVE!!! And the happiest person ever!

It has been the most amazing first week.  WAYY better than I ever imagined.  The MTC is the best place I could possibly be right now.  It is definitely not as bad as everyone says it is. There is no better feeling than feeling the Spirit all day every day.  It's kinda crazy!  Ever since I have been a missionary, I literally have begun to see everyone the way that our Savior sees them.  I'm gonna be completely honest.  There are some interesting people here at the MTC, but our Father in Heaven loves them so much.

My companion is Sister Anderson.  She is from Cedar Park, Texas.

She is also going to be going to Jacksonville, Florida..... so we are going to be besties throughout the next 18 months.  We get along soo well.  We are also the SAME person.  We enjoy all the same things, so that makes everything so much easier.  She literally is the biggest sweetheart.  One morning, I was soooooo sick and she could tell I was not feeling super hot.  When I walked into our room, my bed was perfectly made.  She literally is an angel from above.  I can only imagine my companions going downhill from here....that's how amazing she is.

FOOD.  Welp I kinda cheated the system.  I told the Cafeteria I was gluten free (which is kinda true)... anyways, anyone who has a special foods diet gets to go into this special room where they prepare all the meals gluten, dairy, and sugar free.  So if you know me, you know I'm eating like a QUEEN.

My district is SOOO COOL!  They have all helped me grow so much.  They all have such powerful testimonies.  Everyone in my district is staying in the states, which is actually kinda cool.  Some of the sisters in my district are headed to Salt Lake City.  So, Grandma and Grandpa Johns, if you are reading this, when Sister Luna and Sister Hooper make it to your ward, make sure you bring them some Riches Bagels.

My favorite part of the day is waking up and getting ready.... but most importantly, PUTTING MY BADGE ON!!  I get to wake up every single day for the next 18 months and be a representative of Jesus Christ.... IS THAT NOT THE COOLEST THING EVER?  The Savior has put so much trust in me to teach his children about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.  Although sometimes it can be very overwhelming and scary, I know that our Savior will direct me into the words I need to say as long as I open my mouth. Read D&C 100:3-6!!

My spiritual thought for this week is from Elder Bednar's talk: The Character of Christ.  This talk is only shown to missionaries in the MTC.  In this talk, he outlines that not one minute of our mission is going to be about us as missionaries--but about his children.  In this talk, he states that "Christ turns OUT, when the natural man turns IN."  My goal as a missionary is to not make one second of this experience about myself but rather about the Savior and his children.

I would like to challenge each of you this week to turn OUTWARD rather than INWARD!!

Sorry for the LONGEST EMAIL EVER
I love you all so much..... Thank you for the LOVE AND SUPPORT.
Always remember that your Father in Heaven LOVES you!! Always turn to him in prayer!

More pics of the week:
Sister Copeland has loved seeing her cousin, Elder Wilde, in the MTC as they both work so hard to prepare for their individual missions.
Passing by on the way to dinner and devotional.
Another fun fact--a childhood friend, Elder Freeman, is, also, in the MTC preparing for his mission, too.
And even a selfie!
