Wahoo...20 weeks!
I feel like that is a pretty big milestone! Approximately 140 days...no big deal though!
Another fantastic week here in Tally 2! My mind can't even comprehend that I have almost been here for six weeks! No joke...this has been some of the fastest six weeks of my entire life. We have transfer calls this week...I love transfer call week. As missionaries, the anticipation really creeps up. The mission drama of where everyone is going is what I live for...hey, you gotta make things fun! RIGHT?
This week, I was studying in Moses...wow Moses is a cool dude! Here's a little background on who Moses is...Moses was an Israelite (one of God's covenant people) by birth but was adopted by a royal Egyptian family. Eventually, he had to flee from Egypt and leave those who raised him. Considering Moses's background, how would Moses describe himself?
Something that Moses discovered about himself is that he was a Son of God. (Moses 1:4) We are all Daughters and Sons of a loving Heavenly Father.
I love this quote by Elder Dieter F. Uchdorf:
“You are something divine—more beautiful and glorious than you can possibly imagine. This knowledge changes everything. It changes your present. It can change your future. And it can change the world....Because of the revealed word of a merciful God,...you have felt the eternal glory of that divine spirit within you. You are no ordinary beings, my beloved young friends all around the world. You are glorious and eternal....It is my prayer and blessing that when you look at your reflection, you will be able to see beyond imperfections and self-doubts and recognize who you truly are: glorious sons and daughters of the Almighty God.”
Moses is one of the few that has stood in the presence of God. When the presence of God left him, he became weak! So weak that right after he stood in the presence of God, he was being tempted by Satan. But how did Moses resist Satan..because he was so weak?
Satan called Moses the "Son of Man." (Moses 1:12) Satan did not want Moses to think about himself as a Son of God and does not want us to believe that we are His children. Satan puts every negative thought in our minds! But it is our responsibility to resist Satan's deceptions as we remember our worth and previous spiritual experiences and have faith in them.
God has commanded us to "call upon" Him for strength. No matter where we are we can pray to God.
One day this week...I was struggling remembering my purpose and who I am! Later that day, we went to an assisted living home where we met with some cute old people. One of which was a Bible study teacher back in the day. Wow! Gayle knows her stuff. Anyways, Gayle had this super cool book about daily uplifting prompts. On this specific day it read:
"Come to me for rest and refreshment....Do not be ashamed of your exhaustion. Instead, see it as an opportunity for Me to take charge of your life.
Remember that I can fit everything into a pattern for good, including the things you wish were different. Start with where you are at this point in time and space, accepting that this is where I intend you to be. You will get through today one step, one moment at a time. Your main responsibility is to stay attentive to Me, letting Me guide you through many choices along your pathway. You are on My path of choosing, so do not give up!"
I don't know why, but this struck me! It is our responsibility to stay attentive to him. Just like Moses...he was being tempted by Satan, but he did not forget who he is and who he stood in the presence of.
We should always REMEMBER Him! No matter where you are in this exact moment...I want y'all to ponder and remember Him! Thank Him, praise Him, and rejoice in Him!
I love y'all! Keep up the good work. I know that God is in all your lives. We just need to recognize and rely on him.
