Week 19 - February 3, 2020

Hello, family and friends!

Life is going great in Tally!

The work is moving right along. This week we found three potential families that we could eventually start teaching soon.  Please keep these three families in your prayers:  The Bajgains, Brownells, and Deans!  Bless them with hearts and minds that will be prepared to open up to the message of the restored gospel.

Ever since I have been in Florida, I've noticed that half the time I have no idea where I am.  I have no idea which way is north or south.  But, it's because I no longer see the big beautiful mountains of Utah to direct me!  Which I miss terribly!

Why do I need mountains to help guide and direct me to where I need to go?!  Why can't my life just be smooth and flat like Florida?!  Except for Tallahasee has lots and lots of hills!  Why do we need to go through trials?  Why can't everything just be smooth sailing when we are doing everything right?  This question has been racing through my mind the past couple of weeks!  Here I am serving a Mission...doing everything God asks of me...but I'm still facing challenges and trials!

Why mountains?

Wherever you are on the path, what awaits you is-"glorious beyond description"- JSH 1:32

Why do we have mountains?

Why are we so compelled to get on top of them?

One of the reasons we don't just admire mountains but feel so compelled to climb and conquer them is because of the truth that, as eternally progressing beings, we are predisposed to take on challenges.

I have always been someone who has always craved a challenge!  Especially since I have been on my mission, I have craved every step, awkward conversation, critical comment, and every doubt.  But, it's because I have found that when I am going through trails and challenges, I am not staying stagnant.  I am always progressing.  The mountain might feel steeper and steeper, but I am still going up.

Alma taught us that

"O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way" -Alma 37:46

If life were just easy...what would be the point?  We were sent here on this earth to progress and to grow.

For it is only in testing our limits that we find out how limitless we are.  We discover ourselves when we push ourselves beyond our capacity.

"All of us face obstacles.  All of us have challenges.  We all walk paths that lead us toward heights we think
we cannot ascend.  Sooner or later we all stand at the foot of cliffs we think we cannot scale."-President Oaks

Often our perception of what we think we can and cannot do is far different from the reality of what we can and cannot do. But why doubt when we have God on our side?

"There I will be also, for I will go before your face.  I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up." (D&C 84:88)

Life is just one big mountain!  Some days you might feel like you have barely traveled up because of the steepness...when other days you hiked miles.  I know that there is more to life than just trails. The things we learn from our trials are what makes us who we are and who God intended us to become.

I want to invite y'all to not focus on how far you traveled, and focus on the view that is "glorious beyond description."- JSH 1:32!

I love you all, and I love this work even more.  Thank you for the endless amount of prayers...I can feel them as Angel's are on my "right hand and my left."  I know that my Savior lives!

"And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance

you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.

There are some, down the road between hither and yon,

that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

. . .

So be sure when you step.

Step with care and great tact

and remember that Life’s

a Great Balancing Act.

. . .

And will you succeed?

Yes! You will, indeed!

(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

. . .

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So . . . get on your way!"
